Am I too old to Airbnb???

Hi Y'all!
Greetings from aboard the Vamoose Gold bus as I make my back down to Maryland from NYC. No, I didn't go up to run the marathon. I went up to see friends and study with Douglas Brooks who is also one of the friends that I went up to see. The trip (like this ride) was a bit bumpy in the beginning but ended up great. I believe my Mom was looking out for me. Let me tell you what happened....
Originally, I was going to stay at an Airbnb...
First, let me be clear that this host had a five star rating on the app. He communicated frequently but I knew something was a bit sketchy when he asked me to keep my Airbnb guest status a secret from his neighbors. Then I had to go across the street to the laundromat to pick up the key that was in an envelope wrapped in packing tape. Luckily, I had a pen with me that was able to cut through! So, I get into the building only to get punched in the nose by the strong smell of weed.
When I finally get into the apartment and make it to the bathroom...y'all, my dear ones, filthy, moldy shower, a toilet seat that should have been replaced two decades ago and back in the bedroom where I was expected to be able to sleep was a handprint on the wall! Not to mention the mattress was quite thin and after what I saw, there was NO WAY that I was sleeping on those sheets. All of this was inexcusable with the rather high cleaning fee attached to the booking.
I pull out my phone and snap pictures and immediately call Airbnb with an SOS! After holding, calling back, receiving a call back, their "escalation team" agrees with my findings and I flee while they work on my refund.
I found the Freehand hotel on their app, begin walking, make the reservation while sitting in their lobby and ended up in a lovely king room, paid for with my refund and the good folks at Airbnb picked up the difference and gave me a $19.00 refund. Thanks, Mom!
If you're traveling to NYC, the Freehand is in the Gramercy Park neighborhood. They have a full service restaurant, a nice upstairs bar and also a rooftop bar. Great staff.
Anyway, the rest of the weekend went great. I studied with my dear Douglas Brooks, had a great time at dinner with my kula and reconnected with my kula mates above that also study with Douglas. There is something truly healing about being around people that ask how you're doing and genuinely want to know and look you in the eye to give their condolences and genuinely mean that as well.
That is the Yoga.
