Where we sit on the couch and binge watch a sappy sampling of holiday movies. Personally, I'm a stickler for kicking off my holiday viewing the day after Thanksgiving. The movies this year are particularly helpful, as I need all of the sweetness that this world has to offer. Below, are my recommendations, in no particular order.
Jingle Jangle on Netflix starring Forrest Whitaker, Keegan-Michael Key, Phylicia Rashad. This is a wonderful musical that doesn't overdo the music. It's also filled with family friendly action and a lesson about embracing your creativity and intelligence.
Jingle All the Way on Starz starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sinbad. This one is a classic and will ring true for anyone that had to wish for as a kid or search for as a parent a Cabbage Patch Kid or the Green Power Ranger. Funny and action packed.
The Princess Switch 1-3 on Netflix starring Vanessa Hudgens. What happens when a Chicago baker switches places with a princess and who ends up with Prince Charming? All of these questions will be answered and much more in the two sequels.
The Preacher's Wife on BET Her starring Whitney Houston, Denzel Washington, Courtney B. Vance and Gregory Hines and directed by Penny Marshall. The story of an uninspired preacher that prays for help and it comes in the form of an angelic Denzel Washington. Great acting and lots of singing by the once-in-a-lifetime talent Whitney Houston.
Home Alone 1 & 2 on Disney+ you all know the story, it's funny and full of action but lots of warmth too.
Die Hard on Starz starring Bruce Willis. Because it isn't really Christmas until Hans Gruber goes off of the building! If you know, you know.
A Christmas Story on HBOMax starring Peter Billingsley, Darren McGavin and Melinda Dillon. A boy and his will to get a BB gun, family shenanigans and the intrigues in the life of an 8-year-old boy.
It's A Wonderful Life on NBC Christmas Eve. Starring Jimmy Stewart. No description necessary. No matter how many times you've watched it, "atta boy, Clarence," will always choke you up.
Elf on HBOMax starring Will Ferrell, James Caan and Zooey Deschanel. What happens when an elf finds out that not only is he a human but he's also the son of someone on the naughty list that lives in NYC. Lots of laughs and heart.
I hope that you enjoy your holiday viewing! Feel free to share your recommendations with me and if I get enough, I'll share another list!
In the meantime, let's practice some yoga together. Here's this week's schedule:
