In Bloom

I've been noticing something this Spring as I walk my neighborhood with Malcolm. The plants that we have in the past, and I guess still do today, refer to as "weeds" are actually quite beautiful.

I have always loved the look of dandelions, I find their bright yellow appearance to be quite joyful. And of course the violets are my favorite because I love just about anything shaded purple.

Not only are these "weeds" pretty, but they are the first food of Spring for our pollinators. Biodiversity in plants leads to biodiversity in insects and animals which is healthier for us all.

By having diversity, we have the opportunity to grow and eat more interesting and complex foods so that are bodies are in optimal condition.

Just something to consider before mowing and using herbicides. Happy Earth Month.
