Kindness, Forgiveness and Curiosity

Hi %FIRSTNAME%,
This weekend, I unplugged from social media and the news. It was quite rejuvenating! One of the things that I did, was watch Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein. He is best know for Pan's Labyrinth and the Shape of Water.

This is not a horror movie, instead it is a period drama. The costumes are insanely beautiful as well as the cinematography. The acting is stellar. I have never read Mary Shelley's book, but from what I can see on Wikipedia, it looks like it runs somewhat close to the text.

In true, Rajanaka fashion, the movie raised questions about human nature, ethics, science and spirituality. What would our world be like if we followed the instinct of kindness? Or is the opposite true: we have a savage nature and kindness is learned?

Another question that rose in me was this: must we forgive? Is it a physiological and psychological imperative or is it something that is taught by our culture? And finally, the movie delves into curiosity. When does our curiosity advance the collective and when does it endanger it?

These questions are what make every aspect of life a time and opportunity to practice yoga. Yoga is not simply something that you do, it is a way to live. If you watched the movie, streaming on Netflix, let me know what you thought of it. If you haven't watched yet, I highly recommend it. It is one of the few films, Ryan Coogler's masterpiece Sinners is another, that I left me with no notes to give!

And of course if you want to practice asana with me, here's the schedule:
