Origin Story

If you've practiced with me for a while then you already know that I am a self-described nerd. I love my superhero movies, my Tolkien lore and my Game of Thrones universe (except for the GoT finale, I mean, what was that?!). Every known hero has a cool origin story and here's mine...

In the mid 1990s we had these groovy machines called VCRs (for my youngins on this list) and I used to order fitness videos by mail! I know right?! No downloads. No instant gratification. Pick up the landline, speak to a, gasp, person on the other line and place an order. Then wait. Maybe a week, maybe two. It is October and for some of you reading this, this is a scary story.

Anyway, logistics out of the way, your video would arrive. You would motivate yourself to not only watch it, but actually do the exercise! No reminder to join the class. No classmates. No me viewing you and chatting with you on Zoom. The teachers never filmed their mistakes or humanness. Just edited perfection.

I don't remember the sequence for the video above. I do remember feeling like I worked out and feeling blissed out thanks to the sivasana. It's worth popping into the VCR and, if I like the sequence, perhaps I'll teach it! What do you think?

So, I started my yoga journey about 20 years ago with Kathy Smith. That's my origin story.

And now, maybe I can be your yoga origin story? Join me this week. Here's the schedule:
