As some of you know, I was an esthetician for many years and during those years one of the top questions asked was "how do I keep my skin soft during the winter months?" Below, please enjoy my top tips for winter skin.

  1. Run a warm mist humidifier while you sleep. This will both keep your skin supple and will keep the inside of your nose moist preventing nosebleeds. Win and win!
  2. Switch to a creamy cleanser instead of a foaming one to maintain the skin's hydration.
  3. Exfoliate. Use something enzymatic like papaya, plain yogurt or a commercial exfoliating mask. By removing excess dead skin cells, your moisturizing products will penetrate more deeply.
  4. Use a hydrating toner and follow with a serum to add additional moisture to your skin.
  5. Use a moisturizer that contains plant-based oil to lock water into your skin.
