The Mighty Dandelion

My wonderful student Barbara reminded me after last week's newsletter that in addition to being premium food for bees, dandelions are also a wonderful food for us! Here are a few fun facts about this flower that grows all over the world.

  1. Dandelion leaves and flowers are high in antioxidants! As the name implies, antioxidants slow oxidation ("rusting") throughout the body and can help reduce the signs of aging.
  2. Dandelion roots are anti-inflammatory and is sometimes used as substitute for coffee.
  3. In your yard, dandelions can aerate poor soil and improve it, feed pollinators and by drawing nutrients to the surface of soil, the roots can help feed neighboring plants.

So, with these few facts you now have more reason to let the dandelions live.

And, here's my yoga schedule. Check me out live, or rent a recording.
