Written on the Bones...

A year ago today, I was wrapping up the best vacation ever in Costa Rica. When I arrived, I was burdened with the loss of my Aunt Nancy, the loss of my dear friend Mickie Simpson and the break up with my boyfriend. I left there healed, whole and empowered by some of the folks pictured above.

At one of our gatherings during our week together I shared this: Remember this week and all of the joy that you feel. Remember the conversations, the laughter, the smiles. As the Duraga people of West Africa say, let this memory be written on your bones so that you can always turn to it when times are rough.

Times, as you know, have been rough! But I turn to the teachings, to the memories of the good times that are written on my bones to see me through. This can be a trying time of year, but we have each other. Please know that I'm here, whether you make practice or not, feel free to drop me a line, especially if you are in need of extra support. That's what kula is all about.
